Do we have right to privacy in India? For the longest time, the answer was not easy. The constitution as promulgated did not enshrine this right in as many words and even the Supreme Court expressed the opinion that there is no guarantee of right to privacy for Indian Citizen. On this episode we venture on a 70 years journey of the right to privacy with all its ups and downs. This culminates in the Aadhaar verdict. The Aadhaar Act which was launched with the purpose to give identity and empowerment to the marginalized section of the society. But while Aadhaar was intended to prevent unfair practices and leakage of thousands of crores of taxpayer money, many privacy rights issues were also raised in the case.
