from French Baratin - Real conversations in French for advanced learners, débats en français authentique, B2 et C1, FLE, French language podcast · host French Baratin

Welcome to French Baratin, your French podcast. Here you will hear real French conversations between three friends discussing today's world. Is there a European identity?Today is St. Nicholas Day. This holiday pays tribute to a character who can be seen as the ancestor of Santa Claus. St. Nicholas Day is a European holiday but Saint Nicholas is also representative of the ambiguities of European identity. He is celebrated as far away as Turkey and Russia, at the very limits of Europe. He is celebrated in Switzerland, which is in the middle of Europe, but not part of the European Union. And many European countries, such as Spain and France, don't celebrate it at all, or only in certain regions. So, if the feast of St. Nicholas isn't the best symbol of the existence of a culture common to the whole of Europe, is there anything else? Is there such a thing as a European identity? That's the question of the day in French Baratin.Interactive transcript (for our Patreon subscribers) :https://frenchbaratin.com/transcripts2e4.phpTo support us and get bonuses (a full transcript and exercises for each episode), join our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/french_baratinPodcast players that support chapters and give access to the vocabulary: Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, AntennapodMusic by Rafael KlepschHébergé par Ausha.
