Exodus 32: Those Unwilling to Wait on God Become Idol Worshipers

The greatest silence in scripture happens in Exodus 32 when not one of the 70 elders of Israel stopped the madness of Aaron when he built a golden calf for the people to worship. Moses confronts Aaron and brings about a layered judgment where some lose their lives, and others are subject to a divine plague. Weak leadership and impatience from the people led to rebellion and death. The tablets of the law are broken in holy anger by Moses, physically displaying what the people did when they thought Moses would not come back.
