Exodus #4 - Removing the Excuses

Reading Exodus Chapter 3 (0:00 - 10:31) “I am insignificant.” Exodus 3:11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?” Questioning God’s Ability: How can you use a shepherd to talk to a pharaoh? “I won’t know what to say.” Exodus 3:13 Then Moses said to God, “Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’ Now they may say to me, ‘What is His name?’ What shall I say to them?” Questioning God’s Ability: How can you speak through someone like me? Reading Exodus Chapter 4 (10:31 - 21:55) “They won’t believe me.” Exodus 4:1 Then Moses said, “What if they will not believe me or listen to what I say? For they may say, ‘The LORD has not appeared to you.’” Questioning God’s Ability: How can You make me worth believing? “I don’t speak very well.” Exodus 4:10 Then Moses said to the LORD, “Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither recently nor in time past, nor since You have spoken to Your servant; for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” Questioning God’s Ability: How can You make me worth listening to? “You have the wrong person.” Exodus 4:13 But he said, “Please, Lord, now send the message by whomever You will.” Questioning God’s Authority: How can You send me? God’s Authority (21:55 - 25:57) When I produce excuses for not doing what God has called me to do I am either questioning God’s ABILITY or God’s AUTHORITY. What is in your hand? (25:57 - 34:07) God is not going to ask anything of you that you don’t already have. Our excuses for not doing what God has called us to do are very mute. We’re only talking ourselves out of the blessing. Prayer (34:07 - 39:30)
