Expansion brings dysregulation.

from The Soul Medicine Podcast · host Liz Nerland

In periods of expansion, we are goingg to feel dysregulated, to feel off, to feel stretched and uncomfortable.   Whenever we begin to create changes, we move outside of our normal range of physiology (nervous system tone and hormone balance), and habitual thought & action.  Often this makes you  want run or hide or quit.  It just doesn’t feel right.   I went through this transitioning to having kids. I am in it now transitioning to a new balance of work and mothering.   You have to be careful with your focus and words here, and remember YOU CHOSE THIS.   The worse thing you can do is spend your energy complaining.  When you are complaining you are arguing for all the reasons to stay stagnant, you are talking yourself out of your growth and back into the hole of your comfort zone.   We have to find ways to expand our comfort zone, and find comfort beyond the comfort zone.  To play with the edges on purpose, to be ok not just in our comfort zone but also our expansion zone.  To be ok even when our tummy is full of butterflies.  To be ok even when our mind is looking for stress.  Learn to let these energies move through you without letting them move you back into the walls you’ve unconsciously built for yourself.   Can we feel that agitation, that inner freak out and remind ourselves of what we have chosen what is infront of us.    Breathe deeply. Trust. Why am I making these choices. Do these choices reflect my values and desires?  Am i freaking out because something is wrong or because something is new? What if this is what growing pains feel like?   And also pray.  Co-create with the Divine.  This is for another topic all together but when we do it alone, when we wrap up our ego in our work, we condemn ourselves to always be performing and proving and striving.  When we concrete with God we can soften, we can trust, we can allow life to guide us, allow god to work through us.  So even in the intensity we can be soft.
