Expectations for Christian Parker’s Cowboys Defense

As the Dallas Cowboys prepare for their 2026 training camp, team writers are analyzing the expectations for the defense under new coordinator Christian Parker. A primary focus for the upcoming season is increasing takeaways, as the team struggled with a poor turnover ratio during the previous year. Analysts also emphasize the necessity of generating consistent quarterback pressure, suggesting that aggressive blitzing may be required to compensate for past defensive lapses. Furthermore, there is a clear demand for fundamental improvements, specifically regarding run defense and player discipline on the field. By addressing these statistical deficiencies and schematic errors, the staff hopes to see a unit that can effectively support the offense. Ultimately, these expert perspectives outline a roadmap for transforming one of the franchise's historically weak defensive performances into a competitive force.
