Welcome to the Daily Bag podcast. And my name is Tommy Israel. My mother and I gave that name. I gave myself that name with hope that I can live by, stand by it.
And when it's all said and done, I live up to it. So let's get right down to it. When you go through things in life, it is not only a lesson. Let me back up.
When you go through the hard things in life, it's not only a lesson, but a strengthening session. You know, when you go and you work out, that's a strengthening session, right? When you study hard, those are strengthening sessions. They prepare you for other things.
So listen to me. When you go through hard things in life, hard times, they're just strengthening exercises for what you're about to face later. When you go through these things. Listen to me, listen to me.
When you go through these things, embrace them. There's nothing really else you can do. When you go through the hardships in life, embrace them, because there's really nothing else you can do. They are exercises.
They are preparing you for what's to come. So embrace them. They're hard. When you're working out, you're in training for a championship, for a championship run at the trophy, you prepare hard.
You welcome that for that challenge. When you get to the championship, that's where it's really gonna be hard. But to host the trophy, you have to be strong. You have to have already went through what you went through so you can have the endurance to face the challenge of the championship, to host the trophy.
Listen to me, please. When you go through hardship, it's just a strengthening condition. Now, listen to me now. I'll give you the story to back it up.
Today I came out of the house when I'm in New York. Snowstorm, okay, snowstorm. But when it snow, it's not really cold. So I come out, right?
I'm only going to block, but I want to love one Someone did to my heart. So I said, you know, somebody go to two blocks, go to the moss and pray. Let me walk the loved one dear to my heart. Let me walk the loved one was dear to my heart so.
And I'm walking and I am freezing because I did not. I did not idp. I did not dress warm enough because I was only going two blocks. I get to my third block, and I am freezing.
But I'm in the. I'm like, I might as well troop. I'm with the love one. I'm going to troop this with the loved one.
I'm freezing by seven Block. I am freezing but listen to me please listen to me I am freezing the snow got into the boot the snow the deep snow is a storm in New York City. The deep snow got into the boot My feet is wet now from the water of the snow and it's freezing But I got blocks to go I got blocks to go I'm walking the loved one After I stop and get you the love I am freezing I have to turn back and go to my way so I walked a half a mile in the freezing cold we know half a mile down low But I am freezing I don't know what you been. You might come from ego, what you call those things, the egos.
When they freeze in Alaska, I don't back up, I don't rewind, I don't edit. So you know, when they live in Alaska, you live in them ice things with eagles. You know what I'm talking about, right? I don't come from that.
I don't come from Alaska. I'm cold, bro. I don't care if I come from New York. I'm cold, I'm freezing.
However, however, what gets me to another one told me, go back, go back is okay. I feel alone now. I'm good because let me give you the stream. Show me why I'm good.
I remember being in prison, hardship, maximum security prison that was on the border of the Canada border. I'm close enough for another country than I am to my own city. I am in this prison. And we go into the yard and it tells you don't go on Sunday nights and during football season because the Buffalo Bills are not usually a good team.
They're usually not a good team. Sometimes they play good on Sundays. You don't go to the night yard if the Buffalo Bills are playing the night game. But you know, we look on the street.
I'm with my workout partner. We want to get in because we've been. It's freezing up there. We've been in the cells.
You got to get the chance to go out. So you want to go out. You want to go out. So we look at the game because we know the old G's is telling us.
So we look at the game and the Buffalo Bills, they winning. It's like four quarter and it's like 24 14. They up by 10. It's four quarter.
Let me just go and get to workout. We dress more, we pit all we can on and go out there and get this workout in because there's two go backs. You follow me? Listen to Me, just follow me.
Y' all just follow me. For me, it's two. Go back to these type of maximum security prisons. There's an hour and a half workout, then it's like a three hour, like, you know, for the yards.
Like an hour and a half, this three hour and a half, laying that back out. And y', all. By time y' all get to the yard, it's only hour left so you can bust out a workout to stay warm. And it's freezing up in Buffalo, Canada.
I am talking about free zing in December. Okay? We talking about maybe three degrees. You know, the real temperature feel with the wind might be 19 below zero.
It's freezing. We get in the workout and we think, okay, it's just an hour, you know, since we out there and we burn an hour. But something must go wrong in that football game, because when it's time to go back, they don't call that go back. And we freezing hours up.
You looking like, yo, what's going on? I'm trying to go back. Everybody's lined up at the gate. The Seals ain't saying nothing.
Now, if you know by my picture, you know the melon in my skin, ain't none of those CEOs looking like me. Ain't none of them CEOs looking at me. Look at the melon in my skin. Ain't none of them CEOs looking at me, looking like me.
They looking at us like they crazy. We like, yo, we wanna go back. They ignoring us. And then somebody say, yo, the Buffalo Bills lost because of the Buffalo Bills losing that game.
And they letting the other team come back and win. The CEOs are so mad, the correctionals are so mad in their racist souls that they may stay out there in that crazy, crazy freezing cold. Men are falling out, freezing. They not caring.
They're not caring. We are freezing. You can't do nothing. You trying to stay alive.
Your life is in their hands. And I'm standing strong. I'm trying to do all I can do. And I'm trying to run around the lap.
I'm just trying to burn the time. I am freezing. I am freezing. I am freezing.
Finally, after three hours, they gotta let you go back. They gotta let you go back to the count. I. And that's what I told myself.
I kept walking around that track and running around that track and trying to stay warm and trying to stay alive and see these other older men freezing, freezing. And everybody just trying their best to stay alive. I remember saying it got it in at Some point they gotta let us back in for the count. Just stay alive.
Just stay alive. The point I'm making, what I went through, dear, in that, in that maximum security free prison, Freezing, freezing. Prepare me for today. So is my dear loved one told me, go back, go back.
I didn't really have go back. I was able to withdraw from the deposit. Listen to me. I was able to withdraw from the deposit of my experiences, that hardship account, that hardship account.
I was able to withdraw from that hardship account that allowed me to get through that walk with my loved one. No matter I was wet and I was cold and I was freezing. It was nowhere compared to what I had went through in that national security that day, that Sunday cold Sunday night. They made a stay out there for three hours.
So remember what I'm telling you. Remember what I'm telling you. You have, when you're going through these experiences, it's going into account, it's going into account. It's your hardship muscle, it's going into account that you can able to withdraw.
The next time you go through something, it allows you to get through it because you already saved from your experiences and just withdrawal. So next time you're going through some hardship, remember, go until that account because remember, if you live long enough, you got enough experiences, man. If you live long enough, you got enough experiences. So embrace the hardship, embrace the hardship so when the next hardship come, you're prepared with that involved.
