Experiencing an emotional conversation
from From Sobriety To Recovery: An Addiction Recovery Podcast · host Jesse Mogle
Ep #187 - Emotions are a joy. Without them life is a malaise, its just plain dull, and most of use spent an inordinate amount of time running from emotions, pushing them down, away, and bottling them up - BUT not now!! NO, now we're in a state of exploration of sobriety and recovery so swimming in the emotions, immersing ourselves in them, working our way out of the fog and into the light - that is who we are now, right? Yes, we are, are we not? In today's show I am going to discuss with you how I recently went through a very tough conversation and what I did well and where I can grow. Having vulnerable, intimate conversations with those we love and desire to be closer to is imperative to moving ourselves from a state of 'emotions are shameful' toward 'emotions are majestic.' Here are some key tips: Ask if this is a good time to have a deep talk Be open to hearing things that go against how you think and feel Set a location in your home where you don't do other things Look them in the eye and definitely do not look at your phone Use a lot of "I" and as few "You's" as possible Accept personal responsibility for your role in this. Meaning you release blaming, complaining, and making excuses Just hit play and let's dive in with our open minds, hearts, and energies bringing everyone into the fold - you are in the right place, at the right time...right now. It is time. It has been time. To live is to shine. Step into the SUN. Stand up, step forward, raise your hand - it's your turn, I will call on you. ******************************************** Thank you so much for listening and being a part of my tribe and this wonderfully supportive community.
