Experiencing Perpetual Revival

from Growth for Today with Joel Norris Hosted by Joel Norris // Franklin Road Baptist Church

Many see revival as a powerful, but temporary event. But what if it was something you could experience every single day? Join us September 13–17 for Fall Tent Revival at Franklin Road Baptist Church. Learn more at FRBC.com/Revival Experiencing Perpetual Revival by Joel Norris Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually. 2 Chronicles 7:15-16 Revival isn't a powerful, one-time event we have to hold onto; it's a perpetual state we can live in. Throughout history, revivals have often come in waves, leaving us to wonder when the next one will hit. But God's plan is far more continuous. While it is true that we have to work to keep the fire of our faith burning, that work is worth it. It’s a lot like tending a campfire—you have to continuously add fuel and stoke the coals to keep it going. Our effort keeps the fire from dying out and leads to an ongoing revival. God never pulls back, but we so often do. We get distracted and start to lose the heat of God’s presence in our lives. We walk away from the very thing that can transform us. Revival doesn’t have to stop in your personal life, even if it cools off in a church or a country. God is faithful to continue the work he begins in you. Living in a state of perpetual revival means experiencing something fresh and new with God every single day. This is a journey, not a destination. It’s an opportunity to see God show himself in new ways—to teach us, grow us, and shape us to be more like his son. So, I challenge you: what has hindered you from experiencing perpetual revival? What distracts you from sensing something fresh and new with God every day? Instead of seeing revival as a short-lived experience, let's live in a state of perpetual, continuous revival.
