Explainer: Sexual Consent

We want to talk about consent because National is promising to modernise our laws around sexual consent if it gets re-elected. The party says it wants to ensure consent is actively given .. meaning there must be a "yes" rather than the absence of a "no". Justice spokesperson Paul Goldsmith said the "yes" could be communicated by words or actions and that silence was not consent. So what would a change like this mean for those impacted by this issue?
