Explore God — 5.19.19 Sermon
from LifeWell Messages
Is Christianity too narrow? This message begins with experiences of foreign cultures and religions, then turns the lens around: from an outsider's view, prayer, the Christian response to death, and devotion to an ancient book all look strange too. Our worldview is no less unusual; we are simply used to it. The core issue is Jesus' own claim in John 14:6 to be the only way. The teaching insists this is not a doctrine the church invented but a saying Jesus backed up by the resurrection. Acts 17 anchors the contrast: most religions are humanity reaching for God; Christianity is God reaching humanity by grace. Paul in Athens models the application, reasoning with people, distressed enough about those far from God to do something. Truth is narrow, but grace is exceedingly wide, available to anyone who calls on the Lord.
