Vermont Viewpoint Vermont Viewpoint Vermont Viewpoint covers a lot of ground, both geographically and topically. You'll hear from lawmakers, newsmakers, business people and your own friends and neighbors. This is the show you want to tune into to hear what compelling and/or fun topic you'll be introduced to each day. "Get the Lead Out" with Doctor Chuck Stead Doctor Chuck Stead Phd. Dr. Chuck Stead was raised in the Village of Hillburn, in the Ramapo Mountains of Lower New York. Get the Lead Out is a chronical of the environmental degradation of a water shed and its deadly impact on an indigenous population. A skilled storyteller, Dr. Stead studied at the Vermont Institute of Social Ecology and received his PhD at the Antioch New England School of Environmental Studies. This podcast follows his journey from boyhood, hunting and trapping in the Torne Valley of Ramapo where he first discovered Ford Motor Company’s pollution of the watershed, and on to the culmination of a Forty-million-dollar clean-up. Along the way we are introduced to members of the Ramapough Lunaape Nation, as well as citizen scientists, archaeologists, herpetologists, engineers, politicians, journalists, and Dr. Steads students who experienced what it means to speak truth-to-power. We are looking into Traditional Ecological Knowledge and its application to our contemporary environmental crisi Homegoings Vermont Public 'Homegoings' is a show that invites listeners to be a fly on the wall, privy to candid and genuine conversations about race. Host and musician Myra Flynn explores themes that fearlessly straddle that line between necessary and uncomfortable, as she speaks with artists, experts and regular folks all over the country about their literal skin in the game — of everyday life. 'Homegoings' is storytelling — with a heartbeat. No topic is off the table, and there’s no such thing as going “too deep.” These are the conversations that are our birthright to have, and the stories we are lucky to hear. Higher Ed KUT & KUTX Studios In their lively and entertaining weekly discussion of issues related to higher education, KUT’s Jennifer Stayton and Southwestern University President Dr. Ed Burger explore the topics of higher education, lifelong learning, and exercising the brain. Ed and Jennifer practice what they preach, too, by introducing math puzzlers and brain teasers to keep listeners on their toes.
