Girl Scout Camp enhances kids’ well-being through face-to-face connections and outdoor activities. Kids can be screen-free in a fun and safe environment that fosters social skills and happy campers! More outdoor experiences allow campers to embrace challenges and excel in problem-solving, qualities vital for future success, both academically and personally. Time in nature boosts concentration and creative reasoning. Outdoor experiences enhance healthy social development and boost self-esteem.Our guests today are the directors of the Maine Girl Scout camps.Tonia Stewart is the Assistant Director of Camp Programming for the Girl Scouts of Maine and the Director of Camp Pondicherry. As an Appalachian Trail thru-hiker and passionate outdoors enthusiast, Tonia loves sharing her knowledge and appreciation for the great outdoors. Barbara Ireland is a second-grade teacher and the Director of Camp Natarswi. She has been part of Camp Natarswi for 24 years and can’t imagine spending a summer anywhere else. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
