The largest chunk of the Christian Calendar isn’t celebrations of Easter or Advent. It’s a period referred to as “Ordinary Time.” There something about that word, “ordinary,” that sounds just so ... ordinary. Unremarkable. Forgettable. We live for the opposite, the extra-ordinary. We await and orient our lives around those moments that transcend ordinary, yet the vast amount of our lives are spent in anything but. What are the gifts and lessons of ordinary time?
