Extract the Value from Diversity | How Differences in our Problem Solving Abilities Change the Game All of us have a quirk, belief, or interest that makes us different. Oftentimes we spend so much time minimizing the differences that we have from one another, trying to blend in - that we lose sight of our own uniqueness. We hear the word diversity and we immediately think, "other." We assume that diversity is meant to describe a very specific group of people, rather than recognizing that diversity describes the differences in our experiences, thoughts, beliefs, expertise, and problem-solving toolkit. The diversity that really stands to drive disruption and transformation, is typically what lies beneath the surface and is more than what meets the eye. It happens to exist in each of us. This capacity to be different and to recognize our difference as our value contribution. So the next time you hear a conversation around diversity, know that they could be talking about you.
