Extreme Heat Preparedness: How to Stay Safe and Cool During Extreme Heat
from Practical Prepping Podcast · host Mark & Krista Lawley
Today’s episode of Practical Prepping focuses on staying safe during extreme heat, especially if the air conditioner goes out or you have to be outside. We discuss practical ways to stay cooler and reduce the risk of heat-related problems. Start with hydration. Drink water regularly and avoid too much caffeine or alcohol, which can contribute to dehydration. Use battery-powered fans, handheld fans, or neck fans, and keep extra batteries ready. Cool wet towels, cooling cloths, or damp washcloths placed on the neck, wrists, or forehead can help lower body temperature. Cool showers or baths can also provide relief. Inside the home, use nighttime cooling, cross-ventilation, and fans to move air. Stay on lower floors or in the basement if possible. Close off unused rooms, use ice packs or frozen bottles in front of fans, and avoid heat-generating cooking. Plan cold meals and know where local cooling centers are.Support The Show 1791gunleather.com - Use the discount code "prep15"Practical Prepping Facebook GroupDownload This EpisodeIf you find value in what we do, if you've learned something new, gotten an idea for something you need to do, been entertained, or just like Krista's Southern charm, would you be willing to give back a little? You can do that one of several ways.
