Extremism and Freedom of Belief in Pakistan

Many rejoiced when Asia Bibi - after eight years in prison - in 2018 was released and acquitted of her death sentence for blasphemy in Pakistan. Within Pakistan's borders, however, extremists responded to Bibi's release by threatening her family, judges and the government to reconsider the release. The Pakistani government caved in to the extremist's demands, and the acquittal is now being appealed.  This episode explores what will happen from here: will the newly elected Prime Minister Imran Khan lead Pakistan into a new era of more tolerance and religious freedom, or will his hands be forever tied by extremists' use of violence and threats?  In cooperation with the Stefanus Alliance.
