Eyes & Ears Open…Mouths Closed

There is one moment in the Gospels where a few of Jesus’ disciples got a rare glimpse of who He truly is as God’s Son. This encounter on the hillside was one of the most supernatural events in the entire New Testament. In no other place do we find the Son and the Father appearing in the company of Moses and Elijah - all before the unprepared hearts and eyes of three of the disciples. How would you respond if God opened your eyes to a divine portal to glory? There is much for us to learn from this supernatural scene on the mount of transfiguration. Encountering glory calls for a very measured response from us. It is here we learn from Peter’s mistake to value listening above talking when the fullness of God is manifesting around us. Don’t assume you instinctively know how to honor His presence and dignify the experience. These moments are holy ground which requires holy wisdom from us.
