Eyes of the Blind - Fr. Micah - December 1, 2024

from Holy Trinity + Holy Cross - Sermons · host Holy Trinity + Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral

In this Sunday’s reading from the Gospel of Luke, Christ gives a blind man his sight. Fr. Micah challenges us to ask ourselves if we, too, suffer from blindness. All too often, we are blind to the image of Christ in the faces of those all around us. Fr. Micah explains that we must have respect for the other, including the stranger, to truly see them. We must be willing to be quiet and listen, having respect for the other and discovering the divine presence in them.We also are often blind to the gifts God gives us — the gift of life, the gift of movement, the gift of existence, the gift of being God’s handiwork. In order to not take these things for granted, Fr. Micah encourages us to practice remembrance throughout each day, and to offer our gifts to one another and to God.
