Ukraine New Bill Restoring Independence of AntiCorruption Agencies Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has submitted a new bill restoring the independence of the country’s anti-corruption agencies. Zelenskyy said on Thursday the new bill that was sent to parliament for review “guarantees real strengthening of Ukraine’s law enforcement system, the independence of anti-corruption bodies, and reliable protection of the legal system from any Russian interference (干涉).” The two main agencies quickly welcomed the new bill. The development seeks to defuse tensions caused by his earlier approval of a controversial law placing them under his authority. That sparked a public outcry and protests, the first major demonstrations since the war began, as well as sharp criticism from the European Union. Trump spars with Fed chair over building renovations US President Donald Trump has made an unusual visit to the Federal Reserve's headquarters to inspect (檢查) the building's renovation… and continue his criticism of Fed Chair Jerome Powell. The president has been pressuring Powell to lower interest rates. Ira Spitzer reports. Italy Banksy Artwork Removed for Restoration and Display Art restorers have removed a deteriorating piece of graffiti by the street artist Banksy titled “The Migrant Child” from the side of a building overlooking a Venetian canal. It's a project to preserve the work for future public display. The removal and restoration is being financed by the Venice-based Banca Ifis carried out in consultation with people close to the secretive British street artist. The artwork depicting a shipwrecked child holding a pink smoke bomb and wearing a lifejacket appeared along Rio di San Pantalon in Venice in May 2019. The bank intends to display the work to the public as part of free cultural events organized by Ifis art once restoration (修復) is completed. No time frame was given. That was the I.C.R.T.
