Tai-Ex opening The Tai-Ex surged on opening this morning - adding 316-points from yesterday's close to hit 25,509-points on turnover of 14.9-billion N-T. The market closed at yet another all-time high on Wednesday - as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing beat its closing records on the back of continuing investor optimism over artificial intelligence development. Lai talks up four key areas for national security resilience President Lai Ching-te has highlighted what he says are the key areas of Taiwan's national security resilience. Speaking at a forum on national security and economic resilience in Taipei, Lai said the four key areas of resilience (復原力) cover digital communications, supply chain security, the economy and whole-of-society defense. According to Lai, his administration will also continue taking steps to improve Taiwan's key technological capacities, due to the island's critical role in the global semiconductor supply chain. Lai also told the forum that the government will promote multi-layered network construction and protection - and is looking to deploy Taiwan's own satellites to ensure uninterrupted digital communications. Lee Yang promotes daily exercise on first day as sports minister And, Newly appointed Sports Minister, Lee Yang has marked his first day in office by jogging for 30-minutes around the Ministry of Sports building, underscoring (強調) his pledge to make exercise part of everyday life in the country. Taking to Facebook, Lee said "national fitness starts with me" and he posted photographs of of himself signing his first policy initiative, which urges the public to exercise for at least 30-minutes a day. The ministry also shared pictures on its official Threads account of Lee running alone around the building - noting that he covered 5,000 meters in half an hour. The two-time Olympic badminton champion is Taiwan's youngest-ever Cabinet minister at the age of 30. US Investigation into Charlie Kirk Shooting Continues Authorities are actively searching for information related to the killing of conservative activist and close Trump ally Charlie Kirk at a university campus in Utah. He had been hosting an event in front of hundreds of students when a single shot rang out (響起). AP correspondent Haya Panjwani reports SKorea Plane Carrying Workers to Leave Georgia Today South Korea said that a charter plane carrying South Korean workers will leave Atlanta, Georgia at noon today local time. South Korea’s Foreign Ministry made the announcement but gave no further details. Airport officials at Atlanta earlier said the return flight with the workers on board planned for Wednesday had been canceled. A total of 475 workers, more than 300 of them South Koreans, were rounded up in the Sept. 4 raid at the battery factory under construction at Hyundai’s sprawling auto plant.
