Facebook Ad Fatigue: How to Diagnose and Fix It
from AGrowth Agency · host AGrowth Agency
Facebook ad fatigue occurs when the same audience sees the same creative too often and performance starts to weaken. Common signals include falling CTR, rising CPC or CPA, higher frequency, and slower conversion growth. The first step is diagnosis. Do not judge fatigue from frequency alone. Compare week-over-week trends and look for several indicators moving together: CTR down, CPA up, frequency rising, reach flattening, and conversion rate declining. For cold audiences, fatigue risk often increases once frequency moves above roughly 2.5–3.0. Retargeting can tolerate more exposure because users already know the brand, but repeated messaging can still reduce engagement.Creative refresh is usually the fastest fix. Test a new hook, opening frame, visual format, headline, or message angle before rebuilding the whole campaign. If reach has plateaued, broaden delivery, refresh lookalike seeds, or consolidate overlapping ad sets instead of creating more fragmented audiences.Placements also matter. If most impressions come from Feed, test Reels, Stories, or Advantage+ placements to create new exposure patterns. The goal is not constant creative replacement. Build a rotation system based on data. Refresh when CTR drops materially, CPA rises above baseline, or frequency increases without additional reach. Review these signals together so you can fix the true cause before performance declines further.Read the full guide: https://agrowth.io/blogs/facebook-ads/facebook-ad-fatigue
