This podcast was originally recorded in 2012. NOTES: Dave and Connie were all alone on this call. Dave forgot to mention that Athanasius, the so-called "Father of Orthodoxy" would be considered a heretic if he was judged by a 1st century standard simply because the scripture says nothing about worshiping (or praying to) the Holy Spirit in contrast to his unscriptural assertion that the worship of the Holy Spirit is an essential element of the Christian faith: "And in this Trinity none is before, or after another; none is greater, or less than another. But the whole three Persons are co-eternal, and coequal. So that in all things, as aforesaid; the Unity in Trinity, and the Trinity in Unity, is to be worshipped. He therefore that will be saved, let him thus think of the Trinity...this is the catholic faith; which except a man believe truly and firmly, he cannot be saved." We can see here that Athanasius is clearly affirming that unless a person worships the Holy Spirit his soul will be damned despite the fact that there is nothing in scripture that grants us permission to worship (or pray to) a third coexistent being apart from the Father and the Son that Athanasius defined as the Holy Spirit.
