FACTORY RESET: Why Adrian Newey is an engineer worth $30m/yr

Have you ever heard an F1 driver effusively thanking "everyone back at the factory"? Factory Reset is a series aimed at giving you an inside look at what those people do. For our inaugural episode in the series, we dive into the legend himself, Adrian Newey. It's been said that he can "see air", making his cars aerodynamically superior, and responsible for 19.7% of all victories in F1! André is joined by Deepti Ajjampore, who studied aerospace engineering at MIT, and Meghan Dooley, who has a deep knowledge and passion for F1 and the America's Cup sailing competition (we promise there's a link). Deepti walks us through the basics of aerodynamics and why they're important to cars not only going fast, but cornering and, most importantly, staying on the ground. From the front and rear wings to the underfloor and sidepods, we get into how it all must work together to make cars as aerodynamically efficient as possible, and how the race to doing so has led to some teams to enter a different sport altogether. Then we get into Newey, and what we can expect from his Aston Martin car once it's unveiled ahead of the 2026 season.
