FAILED Ejection Seat - Pilot Killed - Counterfeit Components?

from The Afterburn Podcast · host John "Rain" Waters

On June 30th 2020, Lt David “MEZr” Schmitz was killed in an F-16 mishap at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. He was assigned to the 77th Fighter Squadron which is apart of the 20th Fighter Wing. A recent article written by Rachel Cohen and published on Air Force Times highlights information never released to the public until now. “MEZr’s” ejection seat failed to work properly during an ejection sequence ultimately resulting in his death. A key component of the ACES-II ejection seat is the Digital Recovery Sequencer (DRS) which was determined to be at fault for the ejection seat failure. In this episode we talk about the revelations about suspected counterfeit chips and other components that were discovered during the investigation.Air Force Times Article by Rachel Cohen https://rb.gy/3mpg7wShop https://bit.ly/AfterburnMerchPatreon https://bit.ly/PatreonAfterburnLaunch your Aviation Career https://bit.ly/BogiDope_Rain "Afterburn" for 5% OffWingman Watch https://bit.ly/WingmanWatches "Rain10" for 10% offYouTube https://bit.ly/YouTube_AfterburnPodcastSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-afterburn-podcast/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT) Prep with AFOQT Wingman https://afoqtwingman.com/Code: AFTERBURN for 10% off🛫 Become a Fighter/Bomber/Cargo/Tanker/RPA Pilot 🎯 : http://bogidope.com/?bd=tappodcast 🛫🔺 Aviation & Defense Newsletter - https://bit.ly/AfterburnNewsletter 🔺Become a Patron, Support the Show, & Gain Exclusive Benefits: https://www.patreon.com/c/theafterburnpodcast🥷 Scrub Your Info from Data Brokers & Protect Yourself | https://aura.com/afterburn 14-day free trial  Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
