Intro James 2:14. What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? v15-17. Helping people is good – it accompanies our faith. 1 John 3:17. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? v18-19. Having deeds is good – it shows our faith. Deuteronomy 6:4. Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Mark 1:24. What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God. V20-24. Obeying God is good – it completes our faith. Hebrews 11:17-19. By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son … v25-26. Trusting God is good – it enlivens our faith Joshua 2:11. for the Lord your God is in heaven above and on the earth below. Hebrews 11:31. By faith, the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were disobedient. Faith needs to go to work – be doers of the Word!
