Faith in Action

2 Timothy 1:7 ESV 7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Hebrews 11:1-3 NIV 11 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for. 3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. 2 Corinthians 5:7 ESV For we walk by FAITH not by SIGHT. 3 Ways to let Faith in: 1. Accept that it’s in you Matthew 17:14-21 (NIV) 14 When they came to the crowd, a man approached Jesus and knelt before him. 15 “Lord, have mercy on my son,” he said. “He has seizures and is suffering greatly. He often falls into the fire or into the water. 16 I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him.” 17 “You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.” 18 Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed at that moment. 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” 20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” [21] 1. Nothing will be impossible for you.” [21] James 2:17 NIV 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. 1. Accept that it’s in you 2. Move it through you 3. Grow it inside you Romans 10:17 NLT 17 So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. Questions: 1) Faith isn’t just believing that God is capable, it’s being confident that He is! Have you experienced this type of faith in your life? Describe a specific experience where this manifested in your life. 2) Have you ever felt a lack of faith in your life? How did that experience affect you and or even change you? 3) Jesus said it’s not about the quantity of your faith, it’s about the quality. No matter the size of your faith, God can use it. What are things you are doing now to share that faith with others?
