Faith Under Fire (Daniel 3:1-30)
from Ashland Community Church Hosted by Ashland Community Church
In this message on Daniel 3:1–30, Pastor Casey McCall explores what it looks like to maintain "Faith Under Fire" when living as exiles in a culture that demands ultimate allegiance. Pastor Casey highlights three core movements from the text: The Intolerance of Tolerance (vv. 1–15): King Nebuchadnezzar demands empire-wide worship of his golden statue under threat of a fiery furnace. While modern secular culture claims to champion tolerance, it becomes deeply intolerant when believers refuse to bow down to societal idols or compromise the exclusive lordship of Jesus Christ. True Faith Under Pressure (vv. 16–23): Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego demonstrate authentic gospel faith by recognizing that God's power is infinitely greater than any earthly king's. They boldly declare that God is able to deliver them, but even if He chooses not to, they will not compromise or bow. True faith leaves outcomes in God's hands and perseveres all the way to the end. Faithful Suffering (vv. 24–30): Cast into the flames, the three men are joined by a mysterious fourth figure—a pre-incarnate appearance of Jesus Christ. God does not always keep His people out of the furnace, but He enters into their suffering with them. This story points directly to the cross, where Jesus entered the ultimate furnace of God's wrath so that His people would be saved for eternity. Whatever trial or furnace you may face in exile, you can stand firm knowing that your Savior is in control, present with you in the fire, and leading you toward an eternal kingdom where suffering will be no more. 🖥️ Learn more at ashlandcc.net 📱 Stay connected with us on Facebook and Instagram!
