David readily confessed to experiencing fear. Was it on the battlefield facing Goliath? Was it hiding in the wilderness while Saul hunted for him? Did fear come when he was firmly placed on the throne of Israel. Everyone knows fear. Most of our fears are purely irrational. We worry about things that never happen. We are filled with phobias. And yet the word of God tells us “Do not be afraid.” David reflected on all the fears he had faced but he was also considering how God had brought him through.
