Què és el ball dels Escamots? Mira, aquest ball s'ha creat especialment per a les nostres festes, les del Rei en Jaume, ja que les colles demanàrem tenir un ball propi. Representa un petit grup de soldats, ja que és el que vol dir la paraula “escamot”. Ah! En Pep Toni Rubio s'ha currat la música i n'Antònia Rubio la coreografia. I en què consisteix? És molt senzill! És un ball amb bastons a ritme de bolero. Aprèn només un parell de punts de bolero i ja en seràs tot un expert. Què necessit per ballar? Ganes! I ser participant d'una colla a les festes del Rei en Jaume , ja que es balla abans de la sortida de la desfilada sarraïna l'11 de setembre i just abans de la batalla final entre el rei moro i el rei cristià el dia 12. On? A Santa Ponça, com cada any. I si ho vull practicar? Pots anar a veure un assaig aquest dimarts dia 11 d'agost a la plaça nova de Calvià a les 20 h. Per ventura m'anim...
