Falcons Cut Morris, Bet on Rookie Onianwa | Atlanta Falcons News

The Falcons just pulled off a bold move by cutting Wanya Morris, the backup tackle they acquired for a sixth-round pick — and he’s barely played since getting injured in camp. With Morris gone, Michael Jerrell looks locked in as the backup left tackle, while rookie Ethan Onianwa — who struggled in preseason but impressed early in camp — stays on the active roster. The Falcons are clearly betting big on Onianwa’s potential, trusting coach Bill Callahan to help him develop despite his shaky performance. This shakeup signals the new staff’s no-nonsense approach: if you’re not performing, you’re out — even if you came with a draft pick.
