Falls Church School Board Regular Meeting - April 8, 2025

The Falls Church City School Board met on Tuesday evening, with several notable highlights:The Board unanimously approved Resolution 02-25, designating April 2025 as the Month of the Military Child. Several military family students shared their experiences, including Nora Stuff, a Meridian High senior and future Air Force Academy cadet who is creating welcome packets for new families as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award project. The Badgley siblings, Rhys and Rowan, spoke movingly about their experiences as military children, including their father's current deployment to Japan. All military children in attendance received certificates and took photos with the Board.The Board held a public hearing regarding naming the Learning Stairs at Meridian High School after Superintendent Dr. Peter Noonan. Several speakers, including current and former students and parents, supported this recognition, highlighting Dr. Noonan's embodiment of IB learner profile attributes and his significant contributions to FCCPS.A new, streamlined registration process will launch after spring break. Returning families will receive an email with a SNAP code to complete a simplified registration that should take less than five minutes, with no need to upload deeds or utility bills. All families are encouraged to complete registration by June 6th.The next regular School Board meeting is scheduled for April 22, 2025.
