False CPS Report Targets Buttigieg

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was thrust into a nightmare when an anonymous tip falsely accused him of endangering his young children, triggering a full-scale child protective services investigation and a 24-hour separation from his four-year-old twins. After a thorough review—including forensic interviews with his kids—the allegations were dismissed as baseless, but the emotional toll was devastating. Authorities believe the call was politically motivated, coming just after Buttigieg shared family photos online. This chilling incident, which blends swatting with child welfare abuse, highlights a dangerous new frontier in attacks on public officials: weaponizing misinformation to target their most vulnerable loved ones—and it’s only getting worse.
