Family-friendly Oval Minifest returns to Eakins Oval for three Saturdays this month

Summer fun continues at Eakins Oval on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The city is bringing back the Oval Minifest for three Saturdays in August. The family-friendly series kicks off on Aug. 8 with the sixth annual Hip Hop in the Park Festival. The day will feature performances from hip-hop artists, local DJs, dancers and live street art. The following week, the Oval will host the Now + Then Marketplace, where visitors can shop local vendors for art, jewelry and resale items. The event will end with a free outdoor screening of the movie “Project Hail Mary.” On Aug. 22, the series concludes with a Family Fun Day hosted by Kith + Kin. The event will feature soccer-themed activities, lawn games, face painting and live music. The day will wrap up with a free screening of “The Incredibles.” (Photo credit: R.Rabena/Visit Philadelphia)
