Dr. Rushia Butler has been a family physician attending since 2000, with broad experience in primary care, obstetrics, urgent care (even formal ER), occupational medicine, and medical administration. After nearly 20 years in medicine, she believes that the words of Thomas Edison are true now more than ever: “The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest her or his patients in the care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.” Therefore, in 2013, she established her practice, Wellness Integrative Medical Center, in Homewood, Il, to practice functional medicine. In her practice, she seeks to serve her community and help patients to gain control over reversing the disease state not just with medication, but by all available means including: medications (always with the attempt to eventually wean patients down/off of prescriptions as their disease state improves), on-site acupuncture, massage, yoga/meditation, licensed clinical therapy, substance abuse treatment (with an advanced DEA X waiver for addiction medicine treatment), in- house dietitian, behavioral therapist, family fitness trainer for both pediatrics and adult patients, and the creation of several free Community Gardens. In her practice, Dr. Butler helps patients redefine their eating habits, their stress management skills, tackle addictions, and use multiprong treatment modalities, to achieve their healthiest well-being. Dr. Butler speaks Spanish (conversational), and sees patients of all ages.
