Family Tree, Part 2: Sins of Our Fathers

(Exodus 34:6-7) And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation."   (Jeremiah 32:18) "You show love to thousands but bring the punishment for the fathers' sins into the laps of their children after them."   VIDEO – Sealed Part 1   (Romans 3:23) "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"   (Ezekiel 18:4) "For every living soul belongs to me, the father as well as the son—both alike belong to me. (Genesis 50:15-17) "When Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, "What if Joseph holds a grudge against us and pays us back for all the wrongs we did to him?" So they sent word to Joseph, saying, "Your father left these instructions before he died: 'This is what you are to say to Joseph: I ask you to forgive your brothers the sins and the wrongs they committed in treating you so badly.' Now please forgive the sins of the servants of the God of your father." When their message came to him, Joseph wept." (Genesis 50:18) "His brothers then came and threw themselves down before him. "We are your slaves," they said."   (Genesis 50:19-20) "But Joseph said to them, "Don't be afraid. Am I in the place of God?  You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives."   (Genesis 50:21) "So then, don't be afraid. I will provide for you and your children." And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them."   How do I find freedom from generational sins?   1.     Never minimize sin 2.     Stay faithful to God 3.     Don't make excuses 4.     Stand (Ephesians 6:13) (NIV) "Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand."   (1 Peter 1:18-21) (NCV) "You know that in the past you were living in a worthless way, a way passed down from the people who lived before you. But you were saved from that useless life. You were bought, not with something that ruins like gold or silver, but with the precious blood of Christ, who was like a pure and perfect lamb. Christ was chosen before the world was made, but he was shown to the world in these last times for your sake. Through Christ you believe in God, who raised Christ from the dead and gave him glory.
