He immediately went back to his old habits, breaking into three bank safes with his high-quality tools. A famous detective, Ben Price, started following him, determined to put him back behind bars. Part 2: A Change of Heart One day, Jimmy arrived in a small town called Elmore. In front of the bank, he saw Annabel Adams, the banker’s beautiful daughter. For Jimmy, it was love at first sight. He decided to change his life. He changed his name to Ralph Spencer and opened a shoe store. He became a successful businessman and a respected member of the community. A year later, he was engaged to Annabel. He even wrote a letter to an old friend, offering to give away his specialized tools because he "wouldn't touch another man's money again." Part 3: The Crisis One morning, Jimmy (now Ralph) went to the bank with Annabel’s family. The banker was showing off a new, airtight (不透气的) safe. Suddenly, a little girl named Agatha was accidentally locked inside the safe by her sister. The safe had no clock-spring yet, and the door was locked. Everyone panicked. Agatha’s mother screamed in terror. "She will die! There isn't enough air!" Part 4: The Sacrifice Jimmy looked at Annabel. She looked at him with trusting eyes. "Can't you do something, Ralph?" Jimmy knew that if he opened the safe, everyone—including the detective Ben Price, who was watching from a distance—would know his true identity. He would lose his business, his reputation, and his bride. He took out his tools. In ten minutes, he opened the safe. Agatha was saved. Jimmy put on his coat and walked toward the front door. He saw Ben Price standing there. "Hello, Ben," said Jimmy. "I guess you've got me at last." But Ben Price acted strangely. "You've mistaken me, Mr. Spencer," he said. "I don't believe I know you." And the detective turned and walked away down the street. ✍️ 语法点拨：过去分词作定语/状语 文中有一句很漂亮： "He saw a gloomy-looking man, heavily built and roughly dressed." (虽然这是上一篇的内容，但在描述 Jimmy 这篇的 Ben Price 时同样适用) 以及： "Agatha was locked inside a newly-installed safe." 小贴士： 在上海卷的概要写作中，多使用这种“副词+过去分词”构成的合成形容词（如 well-known, newly-built），会使文章显得非常地道。 在小宇宙查看该单集文稿
