Fariba Adelkhah: a scientific prisoner

Fariba Adelkhah is a Franco-Iranian Anthopologist at Sciences Po’s Centre for international studies (CERI). Her work revolved around everyday life of ordinary people and migrants and about religion in Iran, Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates and Syria. She published many books and articles. Among her book, La révolution sous le voile: Femmes islamiques d'Iran; Guerre et terre en Afghanistan; Dubai, cité globale; Being Modern in Iran. The Thousand and One Borders of Iran: Travel and Identity; and The Moral Economy of the Madrasa. In addition, she produced Film the Kiss of Damascus. A recognized specialist in Shiism and post-revolutionary Iran, Fariba Adelkhah was arrested in June 2019, sentenced in Iran in May 2020 to five years' imprisonment, but detained only for 4 years and four months.
