Farrah Su: My First Ever hAAPI hour guest

from hAAPI hour with melissa cho · host melissa cho

In this first-ever episode of happy hour, I talk to freelance cinematographer and photographer, Farrah Su. She’s a 1.5 generation, Buddhist, Taiwanese-American creator, who was born in Taipei, Taiwan, grew up in Long Island, NY, and now resides in Los Angeles, CA. Other than speaking to her about her experiences in film and photography, we shared anecdotes about our Mandarin names, the Asian diaspora, and opened up about our fears and excitements about authentically telling Asian-centered stories even though we’ve grown up with a blend of Eastern and Western cultures. Before we start, I invite you to grab a drink of your choice, and let’s spend happy hour together. *Note: Farrah was experiencing some audio frequency issues so her natural voice is actually lower in pitch!
