*(correction where I meant to say, Exodus not Deuteronomy) Also - IN (VERSE 8 AND 9) this is not speaking of marriage but the "designation" referred to here is designation of slave - to owner relationship which also can involve the owner's son who can have slave girl designated to. If the owner doesn't want her as a slave (vs. 8) then he has to allow her to be "redeemed" (this either means paid off for OR sold to someone else). Verse 10, if the owner gets another women (a slave) he can't diminish the benefits of the first slave girl (who is now his son's slave). If owner doesn't want to give her any benefits, then he has to SET HER FREE W/OUT DEBT. As desperate as this was in history these parameters did not exist within the Transatlantic slave trade of the west. Thanks for listening!
