Fathers of the 1st Council Sunday

from Christ in Roslindale

Bilingual Sunday Sermon by Fr. Alexandros Pretorian on May 24 , 2026 Exploring the vital importance of church unity, drawing lessons from Jesus' prayer, Paul's warnings against division, and the foundational work of the First Ecumenical Council fathers in preserving faith. Recognizing the dangers, we must actively prepare and stay united in faith. As members of Christ's body, the responsibility for our souls and others lies with us all, not just the clergy. Let us be one in our Lord and Savior. Division from within is the greatest threat to any community or national church, not external forces. Disunity, fueled by the devil, prevents Christ's presence. Temptation often leads us to revolt against what we don't understand. Is it easier to judge or to understand? Stepping back to see the bigger picture and acting with empathy is the ultimate challenge for us all. Christ and Paul pray for unity, urging us to recognize danger and stay together. When faith wavers and pride takes hold, unity crumbles. Man's mind seeking to 'know' God leads to division and sin. True connection comes from shared faith and one Savior.
