Fathers Rights Movement want law changed so that their rights can be recognised

SAfm — The Father’s Rights Movement with the assistance of the Justice and Reconciliation Centre say it will file papers in the Constitutional Court next year in order to get the law changed so that fathers can have equal access to their children during and after divorces are finalised. The group marched to the SABC's Auckland park offices in Johannesburg to raise awareness about challenges some fathers face on this matter. They say the state is depriving them their parental rights. They want divorced or separated fathers to know their rights as contained in the Constitution as well as the Children's Act. They say their rights go beyond visiting their children only on weekends and paying child support. One of these fathers, Orrock Robertson, says his ex-wife has kept him away from his son for almost a year.
