Homesteady - Stories of Living off the Land Austin Martin, Squash Hollow Farm Have you ever dreamt of starting a farm or homesteading? Do you love foraging for wild edibles? Is your perfect afternoon spent drifting downriver, fishing for that nights dinner? Or do love to spend a crisp fall morning hunting for wild game to share with your family? Or perhaps you spend all your free time digging in your garden, collecting herbs, vegetables, and fruits to enjoy. Homesteady is a show that focuses on living a more sustainable life. We talk about all the ways a modern Homesteader can put food on the table, from the fields, streams, gardens and woodlands. Our roads may be rocky, but with the right skills and knowledge we can make Homesteady. Uncle Wiggily in the Woods by Howard R. Garis (1873 - 1962) LibriVox Howard Garis, one of the most prolific children's writers of the 20th century, is credited with writing over 1500 Uncle Wiggily stories. In this collection, the loveable old rabbit stays close to home and visits woodland friends. (Summary by Lynne Thompson) Squirrels and Other Fur-bearers by John Burroughs (1837 - 1921) LibriVox Squirrels and other Fur-Bearers, a collection of essays by American naturalist and essayist, John Burroughs, provides fascinating insight into the daily life of small woodland creatures. Included in these essays are Burroughs' personal observations of squirrels, rabbits, mink, and chipmunks, as well as numerous other small mammals. Highly recommended for anyone, both young and old, with an interest in nature and wildlife. (summary by Laura Caldwell) Bayside Woodland Bayside Woodland Bayside Woodland, based in evangelical Christianity, began as “The Gathering” in 2003, originally meeting in the homes of members. Under the leadership of founding pastor, John Withem, The Gathering grew and eventually entered into an agreement with the Woodland School District to rent Pioneer High School, where we meet today. In 2006, The Gathering made a strategic choice to join the Bayside Family of Churches and changed our name to Bayside Church of Woodland. This partnership affiliated us with 10 Bayside Churches in the greater Sacramento region. Although the closeness of this affiliation has loosened over the years, the Bayside churches continue to partner from time to time in mission, giving, and other strategic endeavors. The legacy of Bayside Woodland is directly connected to the vision and passion of founding pastor, John Withem. In February 2012, John was diagnosed with Stage 4 liver cancer; and after a courageous and well-fought battle, he went home to be with his Savior in
