hello welcome back to another episode of broken record my name is ellie i'm your host and today we are going to be talking about female musicians because it is the first day of women's history month and so i thought it'd be fun to talk about my favorite female musicians and my favorite songs by them favorite music videos etc etc etc so let's get into it the first artist i want to talk about is taylor swift she currently has nine albums out and she's in the process of re-recording five of those albums because she doesn't have ownership of them so she's recording them to gain ownership and it's super fun i think taylor swift is one of the most talented songwriters in our generation she's so incredible she's i just like there's some youtubers that i watch that just like analyze her lyrics and it's so interesting to like see what she means because she can say something so simple and it can have so many meanings and like she takes a simple phrase and she rewrites it so it's so much more complicated and beautiful and like i just she's so incredible and i and i want to be in the room with her when she's creating her songs that is my dream to be in the room when someone as iconic as taylor swift is writing their songs and just see the process of like what goes through their head when they're creating their music i would be crazy that sounds so cool i love taylor swift i love i honestly love all of her albums i think my i have a special place in my heart for 1989 because that is the album that like really got me hooked on her my favorite song from that one is probably i know places are clean and i love both of those songs i also absolutely adore her red taylor's version i i love that album red is red is such a good album i also love all the from the vault tracks it's so incredible i think i bet you think about me all too well 10 minute version and nothing new are they are so incredible i love every single song on that album but those three specifically just like tickle my brain in the right way i love her she's crazy talented the next artist i want to talk about is phoebe bridgers she is she coincidentally features on one of taylor's songs in her red album she features on nothing new and i love phoebe bridgers i'm not as into her as other people like my sister is definitely a bigger phoebe bridgers fan than i am um i think her music is great i think she's very talented she's very she has a lot of slower songs which i have to be in a specific mood to listen to so i don't listen to it a lot but when i do it's very talented um my favorite song by her is called kyoto it's on her punisher album and i i love that song i think it is so good and so brilliant and i love the like beat to it it's it's incredible um i also love she did a cover of bo burnham's song that funny feeling um and she released it on like apple music and spotify and stuff and i love that song i think it's so random but it's so good and it's very calming i was just on a flight recently and i was listening to that on repeat as i was reading a book because it's just like good background music like it doesn't distract me from what i'm doing but it's just nice and calming and like when i tune in it's like she's like talking about random things and it's very interesting um the next person i'm going to talk about is olivia rodrigo miss queen she is she like olivia rodrigo got big during quarantine so like previously she was doing disney shows she was on bizarre vark and she was on as musical musical the series but now i think she's still doing the musical show but she is mainly focusing on her music career and she has an album out called sour and olivia rodrigo is also brilliant i love her song hope you're okay i think it's so beautiful and so sad and it's it's very personal and it's very touching and i think it's very cool when artists take a moment to be vulnerable and like talk about their life experiences because because they they can write about anything and they can make any song they want to write about but they are choosing to write about something so vulnerable and releasing it to the world and i think that's really cool them because the world is kind of crazy the world can either take it very good or very bad and so it's very cool when artists do vulnerable things like that and i love that song next artist is billy eilish she is so cool billy eilish is so cool she's oh my gosh i just can't she is just like an aura about her that like she she's crazy she also billy eilish is another one of those people where i'd love to be in the room when she's creating music because her and her brother create their um her and her brother phineas create their um billy's music together in their studio and it like i just think it would be so crazy to like experience that because so much production goes into her songs like i was watching this video where she released like oceanized i want to like template or something i'm not quite sure what it's called but she was but her brother uses logic pro i think that's what it's called it's an apple mac i believe extension for like creating music and so they took oceanized and made it like a sample piece so you could um go into the song and like listen to all the different tracks they did and listen to the different like synthesizers and what type of instruments they used and like you basically got to like dissect the song and so i was watching youtube videos some guy who's like dissecting the song like listening to each individual track and like what all the settings were for the volumes and the um guitar and whatever it might be and that was super cool and there's so many there's so many different takes and something i found very interesting was like billy uses like she records like 37 different takes and she uses like one word from each take like it's not like a whole line that she uses like she'll it'll flow so well that she can like use one word from one take and it'll flow nicely into the next take and you like don't even notice it and so i thought that was really cool i also would love to be on set for her music videos because i've seen any of her music videos you know they're absolutely insane and i also think it would be really cool to see the stuff she does because she's done some pretty crazy things she had a snake wrapped around her for i think her your power music video she had a tarantula come out of her mouth she had like black i don't even know what it was black water but do whatever come out of her eyes and like she it was crazy but anyway she's also another person that i would just love to experience her working but then yeah my first song by her is probably i think it's ilomilo or billy bossanova or happier than ever i think those three are just incredible ilomilo is off her first album when we all fall sick where do we go and then billy bossanova and happier than ever are on the album happier than ever and yeah super fun and then the next artist i want to talk about is ash i love ash she's incredible she how i discovered her was she her song moral of the story was in the to all the boys i loved before second movie i want to say it was either the second or the third but either way it was in the movie and i saw tiktok her first saying hey like my song is in this movie you should check it out and so i did and then i discovered all her other music and i've been following her since and so she recently released i guess not recently because it's been a while but she released her first album called ashlyn it is such an incredible album it's so incredible and i love love love love it um the production is amazing the song's outstanding she's very good she's very good at writing like lyrics and stuff and she's incredible the next person i want to talk about is claire rosencrans she claire rosencrans is either rosencrans or rosencrans i'm not 100 sure but she is she like one of her songs went popular on tiktok it's called backyard boy it was very popular in i think summer 2020 maybe 2019 i forget but yeah that song went very popular and so i love that song i think it's very fun it's a nice beat good summer song and she she creates her music with her dad which is super fun she's currently on tour and she's touring with her dad which i feel like would be so fun to just tour with your family um and then the next person i want to talk about is casey musgraves she's a country music artist and i love her i think she's so fun and she has such a cool voice my favorite album of hers is called golden hour and i love all the songs on there but i think high horse and space cowboy are such good songs um high horse is i love listening to that song it's such a good like pick me up kind of song it's um if you listen to it it's like saying like get off your high horse like you're not as cool as you think you are and i love listening to it because it makes me feel good um the last person i want to talk about is adele i love adele so much i mean she's so funny i like the interview clips of her and the concert clips she's hilarious and i want to meet her so bad um adele is incredible i love her album 30 i love all her albums but 30 specifically is just being incredible the production is just like amazing i think my favorite song of hers from the album is probably strangers by nature or cry your heart out and those are both just like specifically just for the production they are so amazing i love listening to them so much um it's incredible so yeah thank you so much for listening i hope you discovered someone new or you discovered a new song by someone you already knew or whatever it may be i hope you enjoyed listening thank you so much for listening if you cannot tune in every
