Fear makes people retreat when pain or rejection returns. After earlier beatings and fresh abuse in Corinth, Paul leaves the synagogue, but Jesus tells him not to fear or stop speaking. Jesus promises that He is with Paul and has many people in the city. Paul therefore stays for a year and a half, teaching God’s word.
