Fear and Change
from CR101 Radio - Podcast Network · host R.J. Rushdoony
Fear often reveals itself in opposing ways toward change: some cling desperately to stability, resisting any alteration because their security rests in familiar arrangements, while others crave constant change, fleeing from place to place and experience to experience in order to avoid facing life and themselves. Though these attitudes appear opposite, they share the same root fear and both seek false security, either in preserving the old or in endless novelty. Scripture and history remind us that change does not alter man’s basic problem, which remains sin and the need for salvation in God through Jesus Christ. When we fear change or idolize it, we are really afraid of God, who gives both permanence and transformation for His purposes. True security is found not in stability or novelty but in trusting the God who orders all of life to strengthen us in Christ. Loving God frees us to receive life in all its forms with confidence, for perfect love casts out fear, and life received from His hand becomes preparation for fullness of life in Him.
