Fear and Self-Control

Worry keeps people busy while feeding the illusion that they control what happens. Israel faced Assyria by trusting Egypt's horses and chariots instead of seeking God, whose power exposes every earthly rescuer's limits. Yet God pictures Himself as a fearless lion and a bird shielding its young. Jesus fulfils that rescue by defeating sin and death at the cross.
