Fear of the Lord

Pastor Troy teaches on rediscovering the fear of the Lord as awe and reverence that draws people closer to God, using astronauts Reid Wiseman and Glover’s “overview effect” after a dangerous moon mission as an illustration of being overwhelmed by the universe. He says modern life’s speed, global instability, and prosperity can make people treat God casually, but believers should honor His Word and presence, work out salvation “with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:12–13), and remember salvation is holy because Jesus’ blood forgives, not merely covers, sin. From Isaiah 6:1–7, he explains that seeing God’s holiness reveals human uncleanliness and produces humility and joyful obedience. He warns against ongoing, unrepentant sin and invites listeners to surrender to Jesus in prayer.
