What this episode covers
Pastor depicts the difference between wives having "chaste conduct accompanied by fear" and to "do good and are not afraid with any terror" in verse 2 and 6. You are accountable fore the health of your marriage relationship. Your virture, submission, chasteness are your responsibilty. The fear in verse 2, is that you are unwilling to do anything that brings him displeasure. You don't want him to be displease with you and feel unwelcome in his home. You don't push his buttons on purpose as a power trip. Queen Esther waited in court, adorned in all her roal apparrel, and said "if it pleases the king". The king showed every favor towards her, yet Esther was still fearful and knew such an important topic requires patience. She did not put demands on her husband who already had the heavy load of the kingdom's responibilities on him. Meanwhile, Esther was not afraid with terror for her life. She already determined if she died, she died. If you do good, you should not be afraid of the end consequences of your actions. God delivers the submissive wives from danger in different ways. Esther's husband responded for good. Abigail's husband died. God worked in pharoah to deliver Sarah when Abraham asked her to do wrong. The wife's responsibilty is to fulfill her side of the vows, no to make sure the husband is fulfilling his side. Vows are very important in the sight of God.
