TEDx Cumbernauld Women 2020 orchestrated by Maureen Hascoet took place on Sunday 22nd November. Due to Covid19 the event had to be streamed live on Facebook with many of the speakers pre-recording their talks and only a few speaking live from Ward Park Studios. Embracing the spirit of ‘ideas worth spreading’, I interviewed 5 of the amazing speakers and Maureen herself remotely about the event’s theme ‘Fearless’ and what it meant to be involved in this most uplifting and inspiring event. Maureen Hascoet is an award winning filmmaker who recently moved to Scotland after 12 years in and around the film industry in London. Passionate about storytelling in all it’s forms, Maureen started TEDX Cumbernauld with the aim to elevate the local community to a global platform and encourage change. Iannacone has worked across five continents and 30 countries as journalist and camera-woman, producing work for outlets such as National Geographic, Newsweek and BBC World. She covered the Rabaa Massacre in Cairo in 2013 and has worked on the topic of domestic violence within Iraqi Refugee Camps. Her traveling art exhibition and book, The Spiral of Containment: Rape's Aftermath, detail her experience as a rape survivor, healing trauma through powerful visuals, alongside 24 fellow survivor's stories. She is the founder of Reframe House, an agency devoted to reframing views on the world through creativity and visuals.
